They just got a different tool to use than we do: They kill innocent lives to achieve objectives. That's what they do. And they're good. They get on the TV screens and they get people to ask questions about, well, you know, this, that or the other. I mean, they're able to kind of say to people: Don't come and bother us, because we will kill you. Bush - Joint News Conference with Blair - 28 July '06

Blair getting us ready for war on Iran

Blair Commons statement - excerpt:
"We need to recognise the fundamental nature of the struggle in the region which has far reaching consequences far beyond the region and even in countries like our own. All over the Middle East there are those who want to modernise their nations who believe as we do in democracy and liberty and tolerance. But ranged against them are extremists who believe the opposite who believe in fundamentalist states and war not against Israel's actions, but against its existence. In virtually every country of the region including on the streets of Baghdad such a struggle in being played out." Link
Blair is telling us here that Israel's war is our war ... he refuses even now to condemn the wholesale slaughter of Lebanese civilians [around one Hezbollah fighter has been killed for every one hundred civilians]. He's a Neocon through and through. And don't get suckered into thinking that democracy matters - apart from Hamas being democraticaly elected, Lebanon was the location of the Cedar Revolution you might remember. And Bush, that son of a bitch, he is happy to see scores of Lebanese children die but he goes on to tell the Israelis not to destabalise the government! Is this a dream? Have you seen the bomb site that is Lebanon recently? The infrastucture is shot, 300 dead, but dont destabalise the government.

The policies Blair advocates have consequences for us in the UK - he is the premier European cheerleader for Bush and Bush is Israel's man - with that role comes a price. Not one that he is likely to pay, cruising around in his amoured cars surrounded by heavies - but one that puts the great unwashed at risk - us - Joe public. Anybody serious knows that his Iraq war significantly contributed to bringing terror back onto the streets of London in the 7.7 attacks. The injustices and crimes committed against the Lebanese and the Palestinians - crimes that he supports - are equally significant.

If you had any doubts about Blair's neocon pedigree his decision to side with Bush and block a ceasefire call from the UN Security Council must have set alarm bells ringing. Even if we, like him, adopt a racist mindset and view Lebanese lives as somehow inferior and unworthy of protection from harm no fool could miss the point that by not demanding from Israel a ceasefire he was putting the lives of thousands of British nationals - stranded in Lebanon - at risk. We saw seven Canadians killed in an Israeli air strike - they could quite easily have been British.

Why would anyone trust Blair if once more he chooses to gamble our security? With Bush he screwed up Iraq. He screwed up Afghanistan. He is killing off troops in poorly planned and ill-advised conflicts on a weekly basis. Why is it that Army recruitment is way below target? Because few believe in Blair's wars anymore. Neither the 'justice' of them, or their execution. Blair sends those at the sharp end of his adventurist, Bush pleasing wars, into battle with unarmoured 'snatch' Land Rovers whilst other nations spend tens of millions on new vehicles fit for purpose. He sends a few hundred 'bayonets' to fight wars that need thousands, tens of thousands. So it's not only that his wars are morally questionable - he doesn't even insist on adequately protecting the troops he sends to fight them. Just keep Bush happy - priority number one.

If Ray McGovern - a former CIA career analyst of 25 years - is wrong when he says that Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and our own dear PM are shortly going to take us into a war with Iran then it won't be because of the British voice of moderation. The reverse is in fact true - it clearly appears from statements like the one above that Blair is looking for a fight - against more evil axis people who don't want freedom [like Iraq] or tolerance [like Afghanistan] or liberty [like Lebanon] or democracy [like Palestine].

It's up to the Labour Party now to remove this man from office - if they don't do it our only hope will be Deputy Assistant Commissioner John Yates of the Metropolitan Police. Failing that, well it would have to be an act of God wouldn't it. Any God will do.
