Lebanon: Yo Slaughter

Blair blocked a statement from the UN Security Council calling for an immediate ceasefire - working closely with Bush. Then we witnessed in the 'Yo Blair' exchange Blair telling Bush that there won't be a ceasefire without an international presence. Now 'Yo Harper', speaking after a meeting with the French PM, is saying that their won't be an international presence without compliance with G8 conditions for a ceasefire. Meanwhile Lebanese civilians are getting massacred - but why worry? Israel will be more than satisfied with this 'green light' for more of the same.

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper suggested on Tuesday it would be premature to send an international force to Lebanon right now.

Speaking after a meeting with French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin, Harper acknowledged that the idea of a multinational force for Lebanon was included in Monday's declaration of leaders of the Group of Eight leading industrialised nations that he helped compose.

"At the same time, it has to be said the statement said several things that have to take place to bring about a cease-fire and for the ability to keep peace. And we are not very close to that possibility at the moment," he said. Link
