They just got a different tool to use than we do: They kill innocent lives to achieve objectives. That's what they do. And they're good. They get on the TV screens and they get people to ask questions about, well, you know, this, that or the other. I mean, they're able to kind of say to people: Don't come and bother us, because we will kill you. Bush - Joint News Conference with Blair - 28 July '06

M.Ingram interview: McGuinness UK agent 'since early 70's'

In a radio interview of over one hour in length 'Martin Ingram' [real name known only to...thousands] reasserted his "100% belief" that Martin McGuinness is a paid British agent - and has been since the very early 70's. Debating the issue with the journalist Eamonn McCann Ingram sounded confident - McCann, who claims to be unconvinced by the allegations, sounded less so.

Several interesting points were raised. For instance, given Martin McGuinness's reputation for being a 'hawk' Ingram noted that it is odd that McGuinness has no history of 'active' involvement in IRA ops. According to Ingram, McGuinness's reputation as a hawk is merely part of the charismatic aura that has been manufactured for him "Hawk? More like a puppet" said Ingram.

Martin Ingram intends to adopt a similar strategy in his approach to McGuinness as he did to 'Stakeknife' - who, he said, took 2 years to expose. Slowly but surely new facts will be teased out, new evidence provided and new individuals will go on record he said - but, ultimately, it is up to Republicans to decide - in the manner that they did regarding Freddie Scappaticci.

It goes without saying that we at db don't have any more idea than anyone else; less than many. But put it this way - if I were a buyer, and had to make a decision based on the 1 hour meeting I just had with Ingram and McCann it is Ingram that would be coming back to meet the CEO - not the other fella.

We Brits have had a diet of bullshit dished up on a plate that was served by the BBC and ITV for the past thirty odd years concerning 'the troubles'. The black and white narrative as presented has proved to be false - and that's without the McGuinness allegations. Past British security services activities in the north of Ireland will over time come under increasing scrutiny. This is a story worth following - a good source of further reading is Cryptome - there is a search tool on the site [but you have to look for it].

Here we just scratched the surface - the interview is a 'must listen' - Radio Free Eireann - June 3rd 2006
