Iraq government spokesman uses language of Nazis
Against this background the Chief government spokesman Laith Kubba betrayed his own despicable sentiments by likening the insurgents to diseased rats - a tactic reminiscent of 1930's Nazi propaganda against Jews - intended to dehumanize their victims - and help facilitate their later extermination.
"The people we are confronting are rats, spreading disease and death among the people," Kubba told a news conference.
"Although the rats are small, the disease they are carrying is harmful and there is no cure except confrontation." [read 'extermination']
Wikipedia - on the Nazi propaganda film titled Der ewige Jude (The Eternal Jew, which means the "Wandering Jew" in German) - ......'.One of the opening shots of the film shows a pack of rats emerging from a sewer, juxtaposed with a crowd of Jews in a bustling Polish street. Close-ups of individuals show sickly, malformed facial features. The narration explains how just as rats are the vermin of the animal kingdom, Jews are the vermin of the human race and similarly spread disease and corruption. Unlike rats, however, the narrator continues, Jews have the uncanny ability to change their appearance and blend into their "human hosts." '
It strikes me that in the current environment within Iraq - where death and its avoidance dominates the mind of all Iraqis - a man in such a position should not be seeking to cast the insurgency as one homogeneous group, let alone characterize them all as vermin. This is similar thinking to that of GW Bush - whose recent speech at the NED betrayed his own narrow and distorted field of vision - and in which he used the word 'freedom' nineteen times and 'evil' no less than six. But I guess that this similarity in thinking shouldn't really be a surprise, when you consider that Laith Kubba is NED Senior Program Officer, Middle East & North Africa - a group with more famous/infamous names on board including Paul Wolfowitz - and is 97% funded by the State Department.
When it comes to those who, for whatever reason (and there are many), have chosen to fight the illegal occupation of Iraq, you can forget the 19 freedoms - for the aim of the Bush administration and its puppet-like stooges in the Iraq government is to cast the insurgents as subhuman Zarqawi henchmen - evil incarnate - demanding eradication, like diseased rats.
