They just got a different tool to use than we do: They kill innocent lives to achieve objectives. That's what they do. And they're good. They get on the TV screens and they get people to ask questions about, well, you know, this, that or the other. I mean, they're able to kind of say to people: Don't come and bother us, because we will kill you. Bush - Joint News Conference with Blair - 28 July '06

John Reid screws up terror grading system

The UK security threat level is to stay at "critical" following a suspected plot to blow up passenger planes, Home Secretary John Reid has said.

He said he believed the main suspects were in custody but it was right to "err on the side of caution". Link

That's hilarious - we are at the highest level of alert - beyond 'substantial', beyond 'severe' because "we are erring on the side of caution". That statement kind of undermines the point. We now need a number 11 on the volume knob.

UK Terror Grades
* Low - an attack is unlikely
* Moderate - an attack is possible, but not likely
* Substantial - an attack is a strong possibility
* Severe - an attack is highly likely
*critical - an attack is expected imminently**
**or possible erring
