They just got a different tool to use than we do: They kill innocent lives to achieve objectives. That's what they do. And they're good. They get on the TV screens and they get people to ask questions about, well, you know, this, that or the other. I mean, they're able to kind of say to people: Don't come and bother us, because we will kill you. Bush - Joint News Conference with Blair - 28 July '06

Hizbollah: Israeli casualties in s. Lebanon

Reuters

Hizbollah said its guerrillas inflicted casualties among Israeli forces in fierce fighting in south Lebanon on Thursday in which four tanks were destroyed.

Al Arabiya television said two Israeli soldiers were killed in clashes with Hizbollah guerrillas in south Lebanon, and four were wounded.

Lebanese security sources said Hizbollah fighters, unfazed by a three-week Israeli bombing campaign, attacked Israeli unites operating in south Lebanon, using anti-tank rockets, mortars and assault rifles.

Israeli artillery and aircraft pounded a cluster of frontier villages, killing two civilians overnight, while the guerrillas launched salvoes of Katyusha rockets into northern Israel.

Hizbollah said in a statement that it had destroyed four tanks in the attacks near Aita al-Shaab, Taibeh, Khiam and Shiheen, inflicting "certain casualties in enemy ranks".

The Israeli army said 15 soldiers wounded in Lebanon were evacuated to Israel.

Israeli forces are holding their positions at five places 2-4 km (1-2.5 miles) inside Lebanon.

Israel had expanded the ground war in southern Lebanon, where seven brigades, or up to 10,000 troops, were fighting Hizbollah, Israeli army radio said.

One Israeli soldier was killed and four were wounded near the border village of Aita al-Shaab on Wednesday, bringing the number of Israeli soldiers killed in the war to 37. Link
