BAGHDAD - Gunmen kidnapped an Iraqi businessman in Baghdad on Sunday, police said.
BAGHDAD - Gunmen kidnapped a Finance Ministry employee in Baghdad's violent Adhamiya district on Sunday, police said.
MUQDADIYA - Gunmen on Sunday opened fire on a minibus, killing three people and wounding 10 in the town of Muqdadiya, 90 km (50 miles) northeast of Baghdad, police said. East of Muqdadiya, gunmen killed three people.
BAGHDAD - Two suicide car bombs exploded near the civilian entrance to the international airport zone in western Baghdad, killing 14 people, the U.S. military said.
BASRA - Two British soldiers were killed and another was seriously wounded in a roadside bomb attack in the southern city of Basra, 550 km (340 miles) south of Baghdad, late on Saturday, military officials said on Sunday.
NEAR KERBALA - Police found the bodies of five people, blindfolded, bound and with gun wounds, near the Shi'ite city of Kerbala, 110 km southwest of Baghdad, police said.
KERBALA - The bodies of four brothers who worked in a humanitarian aid organisation were found beheaded in Kerbala, police said. They were earlier abducted from their home.
KERBALA - Gunmen wearing police uniforms kidnapped a policeman in Kerbala, police said. The policeman was a former member in ousted Iraqi President Saddam Hussein's Baath Party.
UDAIM - Three bodyguards working for Iraq's Foreign Minister Hoshiyar Zebari were killed and four others were wounded when their motorcade was hit by a roadside bomb in Udaim, 80 km (50 miles) north of Baghdad, police and military officers said. Zebari told Reuters he had not been in the convoy himself but was aware of the attack.
FALLUJA - Iraqi police found the bodies of three people, bearing signs of torture and with gun wounds, south of Falluja, 50 km (31 miles) west of Baghdad, police and hospital sources said.
MOSUL - Two civilians were killed and nine wounded when a car bomb went off near a U.S. forces in the northern city of Mosul, 390 km (242 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.
RAMADI - Three insurgents were killed and four were detained during a U.S. raid and search operation on Saturday in the western city of Ramadi, 110 km (68 miles) west of Baghdad, the U.S. military said on Sunday.
BAGHDAD - A bomb exploded near al-Mustansiriya University in northeastern Baghdad, killing one civilian and wounding 11 people, including three policemen, police said.
BAGHDAD - Six people were killed, including three policemen, and 10 wounded when a roadside bomb went off near a police patrol in the capital's northern Adhamiya district, police said.
