UK troops wounded in Afghan attack

itv: Two British soldiers have been wounded in a suicide car-bomb blast in Afghanistan.

This is the latest in a string of attacks on foreign troops on peace missions in the country.

The attack happened near the entrance of a base used by foreign forces in Lashkar Gah, capital of the southern province of Helmand, a provincial official confirmed.

He said: "It was a suicide car attack and two foreign soldiers have been wounded. The bomber was killed".

A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Defence (MOD) said three people had suffered non-life-threatening wounds in the blast. Two of them were British soldiers, she added.

A suicide car-bomb attack wounded three Americans in Lashkar Gah last week and three British soldiers were wounded in a roadside bomb blast in Helmand on Monday. Read more
