Turkish PM: Sanctions on Palestine not humane
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, speaking at the conference attended my members of 48 Muslim countries, severely criticized the pressure against the Palestinian people who have been subjected to an international embargo following the election of HAMAS (Islamic Resistance Movement).
Erdogan termed the economic embargo imposed on the Palestinians who made their democratic choice in the country’s recent elections as a "threat."
The prime minister emphasized that the sanction is not "humane" and said "peace will win" if this attitude is rapidly abandoned.
An embargo against a democratic choice will not bring peace, Erdogan said. "Peace cannot be established in an atmosphere of hostility. In this period it is very important that the international community is acting with common sense and patience, and other nations implementing such an embargo is seen as a threat and we do not find this right in humane terms. We support a comprehensive, just and permanent peace on the basis of the Road Map." Read more
