Palestinian woman killed in Israeli raid in West Bank

M&C: Israeli soldiers shot a Palestinian woman to death Monday during an arrest raid in the West Bank city of Tulkarm.

Both an Israeli army spokesman and Palestinian witnesses confirmed the killing.

The spokesman said another Palestinian was wounded in the operation, in which Israeli troops surrounded a house as they were seeking to arrest a high-ranking member of the Islamic Jihad militant group.

The soldiers demanded for more than an hour over loudspeakers that the suspect leave the house and then fired warning shots into the air, the spokesman said. After a 'suspicious movement' in the building, the troops opened fire on the house and the woman was fatally hit, he added.

The army was later able to take the suspect it had been seeking into custody.

The spokesman said the Israeli army regretted any death of an innocent bystander. Link
