Blair refuses to back Iran strike - they say

scotsman: Tony Blair has told George Bush that Britain cannot offer military support to any strike on Iran, regardless of whether the move wins the backing of the international community, government sources claimed yesterday.

Amid increasing tension over Tehran's attempts to develop a military nuclear capacity**, the Prime Minister has laid bare the limits of his support for President Bush, who is believed to be considering an assault on Iran, Foreign Office sources revealed. Read more

Anon 'Foreign Office sources' do not inspire sufficient confidence that Blair has seen sense 2.** "Tehran's attempts to develop a military nuclear capacity" - does Brian Brady, the writer, know something that the rest of the world, including the IAEA doesn't? In its most recent report the most damning thing said was "the agency is not at this point in time in a position to conclude that there are no undeclared nuclear materials or activities in Iran" - they haven't yet proved a negative. Big deal.
