Doctor faces Iraq court martial

bbcnews: An RAF doctor who is understood to have refused to go to Iraq is facing court martial, it has emerged.

Flt Lt Malcolm Kendall-Smith, who is based at Kinloss in Moray, is charged with four counts of failing to comply with a command.

The officer is expected to deny all the charges, arguing that the war in Iraq was unlawful.

A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Defence said it was an offence not to comply with orders.

The officer's lawyer, Justin Hugheston-Roberts, said his client had considered the issue very carefully and in great depth. Link
