Welsh nuclear power plants to be secured - next year
Full-time firearms officers will patrol the reactors at Wylfa on Anglesey and Hinkley Point on the Severn Estuary, facing the South Wales coast, to counter an al-Qaeda-style threat.
Although a handful of temporary armed guards arrived at the plants earlier this year, it will be the first time the stations will benefit from 24-hour protection. Previously, the plants relied on unarmed civilian officers. Read more
