They just got a different tool to use than we do: They kill innocent lives to achieve objectives. That's what they do. And they're good. They get on the TV screens and they get people to ask questions about, well, you know, this, that or the other. I mean, they're able to kind of say to people: Don't come and bother us, because we will kill you. Bush - Joint News Conference with Blair - 28 July '06

Robin Cook goes to the other place

db: Robin Cook died yesterday whilst hill-walking - he was 59 years old.

Cook resigned from his post in the Labour government in 2003 due to it's policy on Iraq - in his resignation speech, which Andrew Marr described as as "without doubt one of the most effective, brilliant, resignation speeches in modern British politics" he said 'None of us can predict the death toll of civilians from the forthcoming bombardment of Iraq, but the US warning of a bombing campaign that will "shock and awe" makes it likely that casualties will be numbered at least in the thousands.' - He was not wrong.
